1990s POETRY - Exactly as I arrived in Mississippi to be an English professor & Department Chair, Iraq occupied Kuwait. I donned the green again but my career ended in a parachute accident. In August 1991, I "resumed" my college position. My injuries developed into chronic pain that, as it worsened, interfered with teaching and public activity. My grimaces and sudden verbal responses to pain were disturbing to others. Forced into an early and near reclusive retirement, I focused on my writing.
